At the The Eye Guys, we offer several methods of Astigmatism treatment for cataract patients. Prior to FDA approval of laser cataract surgery, our surgeons used Diamond blades to perform Limbal Relaxing Incisions, or LRIs, for treating individuals with mild to moderate astigmatism. However, for those patients with moderate to high degrees of astigmatism, a Toric Intraocular Lens Implant can be implanted. This option corrects both the cataracts and the astigmatism, providing improved distance vision and overall image quality. The newest method of treating Astigmatism during the time of cataract surgery is with our LenSx Femtosecond laser. This is by far the most precise and accurate method of Astigmatism available today and it our preferred method depending on the severity of your Astigmatism. Although approved by Medicare, it is not a fully covered procedure. Our staff can go over all of your Astigmatism-correcting options and payment methods.
